2/2/2009 - IDG Service News IDG Service department is currently working on ways to improve inventory procedures. Some of the ways they have been making improvements are by locking down all parts in the warehouse and having a sign out/in sheet when parts are transferred to and from the general warehouse inventory to the technician’s personal warehouse. Another way is to have the technician notify the front office when they are exchanging parts with another technician. When ordering parts, the technician must verify the warranty status on the machine with the front office. By doing these simple tasks and having better communication with the front office, part placement and organization will be more accurate at the end of  the year. IDG Service is also integrating with the Microsoft© Office Communicator system. This will allow for more effective communication between management and technicians by way of video conferencing. The video conference will be likely to occur once a month. This decision was made as a step to cut down on travel expenses every time the department has  a meeting. Several IDG technicians have recently completed various training coursework to help strengthen our already strong team of technicians. Jack Thorner has completed the course on the CP40 card printer and has received his Datacard certification. Michael Byers, Donald Reed, and Brad Swann have all been certified on installation and full operation of the BadgePass Identity Management software. The remaining technicians are expected to be certified in BadgePass by the end of January 2009. Michael Byers is scheduled to attend Web ID training in February 2009 and receive certification at the end of  the course.
